Ah, it feels good to sit down and work for hours, even days on a big project again. Yaaay for me. :3

So, then. Everyone remember that one pic I did called 'Walking in DC" based off the Fallout 3 game(s)? No? Ah, heck, I'll go ahead and link you. [link]

So, this is based (halfway) on the new game soon to be coming out in the FO3 timeline called "New Vegas." I'm super-excited, as you can tell. But, with me being the guy I am, wanting to place me and my stories in these plotlines, I went and wrote up a little story. Enjoy.

I will admit, I'm at a loss. I've become so used to this post-apocalyptic wasteland way of life, I've become bored. That's right, bored.

Bored of scavenging for food, clean water, and misc. treasures and items in nearby shacks.

Bored of shooting down everyone who attacks me first, and looting their bodies for ammo and weapon parts.

Bored of...well, you get the idea.

Again, if I ever return home, this journal is to serve the purpose of cataloging what happens here in this day and age. I've since settled down in the settlement of Megaton, a town that was built in a crater after an unexploded atomic bomb crashed into the earth. The people are somewhat withdrawn to themselves, but I can't blame them. Times we're living in, after all. After investing a hefty amount of "caps" (what they use as money here) into a suitable house, I've more or less made Megaton my base of operations. I've been tinkering with this Pip Boy attached to my arm, trying to find a way to get messages out instead of receiving them. I keep hoping somehow that Talliko and Togedai were right there behind me when I made that fateful trip. I keep hoping that they're here in this world with me, trying to find me. Knowing him, Talliko's jury-rigged whatever tech he can find into some sort of locator or teleportation device for getting us back home.

The daily grind here isn't so bad, anymore. I think I've adjusted well enough to survive here for the rest of my days, if need be. I have a well-stocked ammunition and weapons supply, a fridge with adequate food, and a bed to sleep in. Every now and then I'll step out of Megaton to explore, gather equipment, or find a traveler passing by who needs help. Recently I passed by an old scrapyard, whose sole inhabitant was a poor lonely dog with no master. I took him along with me on my travels, and he's pretty much indestructible. He's been shot at, set on fire, even bitten by creatures far bigger than him. Put a few stinpaks on him, though, and he's good to go. I've named him "Dogmeat." He's a good puppy dawg.

I don't know what I was thinking. Maybe it was the year and few months I spent in a daily grind. Maybe it's the radiation finally getting to me. Maybe it's that Brahmin carcass I ate for lunch. That thing may have been sitting in the sun too long...

Anyway. Last month, I was reading over the entries I've made in this journal. I shouldn't be just sitting around, getting used to this new life. I should be trying to get home. I did a bit of research, and I learned not every place on Earth was hit as strong as Washington DC was when the bombs fell. I decided to go looking for these untouched places, hoping to find anything to help. Maybe even Talliko and Togedai. One of the places I read in the old data pages was Las Vegas.

I don't know what I was thinking. 'There's nothing there now', I kept telling myself. "She's not there, and Talliko and Togedai probably went somewhere else." But I kept pressing on, with Dogmeat at my side. I traveled across deserts, polluted streams, Raider-invested city shambles, and settlements filled with cold-blooded killers and Super Mutants. I traveled so far...for nothing. Las Vegas...well, what used to be Las Vegas, is now a settlement called New Vegas. It's a junk town, with nothing left of the suburbs, and nearly nothing left of the main strip itself. I could only hope that everyone I loved and cared about who was left behind died of old age before the bombs fell. My heart is breaking, I can feel it. I'm starting to think I'll never get back home.

But this dumb dog...he's pulling at my pants leg, begging me to get up and keep going. I'm going to continue writing in this journal, but I won't think on the past anymore, not until I return there. With my finger, I wrote "to the old days" in the dirt, and left behind New Vegas, in search of a way home.

Alright, it's not exactly what I had in mind when I first thought this up. But with Fallout 3's new game taking place in Las Vegas, where a buncha my pals live, I couldn't help but incorporate my stories into this plotline. Picture-wise, I now that it doesn't look a whole lot like Vegas, but hey, I've improved! There's details abound in this picture, and I want eeeveryone to see it. So please view it and comment.

Even though I haven't played new Vegas yet, I wish that the creators had just made a new Welcome sign instead of scrawling "New" over "Las"
